A More Perfect Union: The Jewish Partnership for Democracy

Democracy is confronting its greatest challenges in generations, both in the United States and around the world. Increasing toxic polarization, erosion of trust in and commitment to democratic norms and institutions, concerted efforts to subvert elections, and an alarming rise in extremism and political violence all threaten the democratic system that — for all its limitations — has enabled dramatic improvements in the rights and lives of its citizens for nearly 250 years.

A More Perfect Union launched in 2022 to mobilize the American Jewish community to protect and strengthen American democracy. In its first year, the organization mobilized leaders to build a coordinated, transpartisan Jewish network in support of a free, fair, safe, and accessible midterm election. A More Perfect Union’s approach, modeled on collective impact, invites all Jewish institutions to make bold-but-achievable public commitments supported by an expanding and interconnected network, educational materials, and increased financial resources. Through webinars, toolkits, white papers, and curated resource guides, A More Perfect Union is making the case for the Jewish imperative to strengthen democracy.

A More Perfect Union’s strategic advisors span the political and ideological spectrum, and are laser-focused on leveraging the Jewish community’s distinctive assets, resources, and influence to protect and strengthen American democracy. As the organization grows, it is committed to remaining flexible to meet the unique needs of the moment. In doing so, it is helping Jews and Jewish institutions across the United States begin their journeys to protecting and strengthening democracy from exactly where they are.
