R&R: The Rest of our Lives

A lab for rest and rejuvenation
R&R emerged amidst a growing realization among non-profit professionals and do-gooders: the workplace isn’t working and folks are burning out.
Inspired by 20 years of research and practice from the Durfee Foundation’s work on sabbaticals, R&R believes we all deserve better. Studies show that our leaders need time to rest and recharge so they can bring their best selves to work and fulfill their jobs with a sustainable level of passion and drive. Following the pandemic, burn-out was a salient issue among CEOs and other leaders. R&R was founded to support a shift in expectations and lifestyles so that employees are able to achieve greater balance in their lives.
R&R operates through an equity lens, with an understanding of how BIPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, disabled and women leaders experience a double burden that makes the traditional workplace especially unsustainable.
Grounded in research on the importance of physical, spiritual, creative, and emotional rest, R&R is pushing employers to understand that rest is an essential ingredient for making humans healthier, communities stronger, and society better.
Through paid sabbaticals, guided ‘Walkshops,’ coaching and consulting, and educational resources, R&R is shifting the culture around work and rest in order to help leaders thrive.
