A Deep Dive into What Drives the Next Generation of Jewish Givers and How to Support Their Leadership
Slingshot is excited to release a Portrait of Jewish Giving Today. This ethnographic study is a snapshot of what drives the next generation of Jewish givers in the moment. Our research shows a cohort that isn’t drifting away from their Jewish identity, they’re asking for better tools, clearer paths, and spaces that hold both grief and joy.
NextGen funders are committed to their Jewish identity and ready to contribute meaningfully as they balance the heaviness of current events with a desire for joyful community engagement. In this period of fracture and polarization, they are finding new ways to lead with their Jewish values including:
- Prioritizing quality and impact over visibility or recognition, taking deliberate steps to grow as leaders.
- Valuing curiosity, questioning, and leaders who model reflection, critical thinking, and courage.
- Seeking to impact both Jewish and broader societal contexts, integrating their values across spaces rather than choosing between them.
- Setting high standards for themselves as philanthropic leaders and thriving with guidance, mentorship, and support.
